"Great Is Thy Faithfulness!"

Of the many gospel hymns written in recent times on the theme of God's goodness and faithfulness, the following hymn stands out like a beacon in the night. While many hymns are produced our of a particular dramatic experience, the above titled hymn is simply the result of the author's "morning by morning" realization of God's inherent faithfulness.

I have added related Scriptures after each line:

"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father! (Lamentations 3:23).
There is no shadow of turning with Thee; (James 1:17).
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not: (Malachi 3:6; Lamentations 3:22).
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be (Lamentations 5:19; cf. Psalm 9:7).

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, (Genesis 8:22).

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above (Genesis 1:14-18).
Join with all nature in manifold witness (Romans 1:19-20).
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love (Psalm 57:10; Psalm 89:1-2; Psalm 108:3-4; Psalm 117:1-2).

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, (Jeremiah 31:34; Hebrews 10:16-17; Psalm 72:7).

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; (John 16:13-14,33).
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, (Deuteronomy 11:8; Titus 2:13).
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! (Ephesians 1:3; Malachi 3:10).

Chorus:

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! (Lamentations 3:23).

Morning by morning new mercies I see; (Lamentations 3:23).
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided — (Acts 14:17; Acts 17:24-25).
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!" (Psalm 69:13 ESV). —Thomas O. Chisholm, 1866-1960
