At one time, the Dallas Cowboys were my favorite football team. The interesting thing about being a Cowboy fan, is that the team has a way of letting folks down. While marching down to the goal line, they've been known to fumble the football at the one-foot line, missing an opportunity to score a touchdown. And while they often have shown great promise at the beginning of a season, they have disappointed their loyal fans at the end of a season.
Thankfully, our God does not disappoint like the Dallas Cowboys! Not only can we count on Him in any situation or circumstance, He will not disappoint us in the end. He always keeps His promises (Joshua 21:43-45; Joshua 23:14), and His Word provides comfort, hope, and wisdom that never fails.
When King Solomon dedicated the temple, he attested to the fact that God had not let His people
down.
He said: "Blessed be the Lord, who have given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which he promised through His servant Moses" (1 Kings 8:56).
Those words still ring true today as they did centuries ago. And better yet, we are heirs of the greatest fulfilled promise of all time — Jesus, our Savior (Gal. 4:4-5; cf. Romans 8:14-17; Gal. 3:28-29).
The longer we study Him and His life, the more compelling He becomes (Romans 15:1-7).
Beloved, if we looking for someone who won't disappoint us, we don't have to look any further than Jesus, because with Him, "There has not failed one word."
All of His promises are positively confirmed (Romans 15:8; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20).
