The story is told of a preacher who was having a difficult time in deciding what to say at a funeral of man with an unsavory past. Not only had the man never been anywhere near a house of worship in his entire life, but the preacher had never heard of him.
Nevertheless, the preacher conducted the service, pouring out great praise for the departed man in his desire to bring about as much comfort to the family as possible.
As the preacher lamented the great loss of this father and husband, the man's widow, whose expression had grown more and more puzzled with each passing minute, nudged her son and whispered, "Go up there and make sure it's Papa he's talking about!"
Dear reader, no matter what our station in life might be, or the amount of material possessions we may have amassed, each of us will leave behind one of two legacies. Either a legacy of love, integrity, and an obedient faith in the Lord (Genesis 5:21-24; Hebrews 11:5) or a legacy of hate, immorality, and faithlessness (1 Samuel 2:12-17,22-25,27-34).
The question then becomes, which legacy will we leave?
