Have we ever been in a conversation with folks who don’t know when to quit speaking? It’s kind of a one-sided affair, because they go on and on and on and on, seemingly never running out of words (or breath) and never allowing anyone else to speak.
The New Testament writer James tells us to be “slow to speak” (James 1:19; cf. Proverbs 10:19; Ecclesiastes 5:1-2).
With the above thoughts in mind, here are ten practical steps, along with some tips, on how to “think” before speaking — knowing “when” to speak as well as knowing “when” to refrain from speaking.
