Will We Use God's Directional Signal Device?

In driving on our roadways here in El Paso, I've noticed that more and more drivers are not using their automobile directional signals. They just turn whatever direction their spirit moves them. It's a very dangerous habit, because it endangers not only themselves, but the drivers behind them as well.

Some reasons why they don't use their directional signal device, may be because (1) they are simply lazy; (2) they are indifferent; or (3) they are rebelling against any kind of law or authority. Perhaps the above three reasons are the same reasons why folks don't use the Bible as a directional signal device for properly directing their lives, and thus they turn in whatever direction their spirit moves them.

God's word contains directional signals which correctly direct our paths in life, so that we won't turn down a wrong road and end up at a dead end (Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 16:25). For example, God's word directly signals us to: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

And: "My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And that your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end, she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell [Sheol]. Lest you ponder her path of life Her ways are unstable; You do not know them" (Proverbs 5:1-6).

Dear reader, using God's directional signal device (the Bible), assures us that we are turning at the right place and at the right time. The question is, "Will we use God's directional signal device, or will we continue to use no directional signal at all?"

The choice is always ours (Joshua 24:15-15).
