Gay Or Odoriferous?

Today, in our politically correct and culturally imposed atmosphere, so-called “religious” leaders, who used to condemn sin, are now supporting immoral behavior. Sadly, adultery, fornication, and homosexuality have been upgraded to acceptable status by some denominations. The so-called “Gay Movement,” is affecting nearly every main-line denomination.

In an Agape Press article, dated May 2, 2005, an appeals committee within the United Methodist Church, decided to reinstate a lesbian minister from Philadelphia who earlier had been removed from her position after revealing her relationship with another woman.

The dictionary definition of the word, “gay” means “keenly alive,” or “exuberant.” Let’s ask ourselves, “Why do homosexuals prefer to be called “gay” instead of other, more graphic terms?” It is simply because homosexuals want to be accepted by society in spite of their gross immorality. Are homosexuals more moral today than they were 40-50 years ago? Have they changed their conduct from that which is a perversion of nature (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27)? The only thing that has “improved” for the homosexual, is that their public image has been upgraded in the eyes of a worldly society, but their sexual behavior is still as sinful as it ever was.

Everything God says about homosexuality in the Bible, plainly and graphically condemns the practice of it (Genesis 18:20; Genesis 19:13-15; Romans 1:26-32). When homosexuals say that these passages condemn heterosexuals who are practicing homosexuality, they are assuming what they are trying to prove. God simply says that homosexuality is a perversion of nature – He did not create man or woman that way (Genesis 1:26-27; Ecclesiastes 7:29).

Additionally, the inspired Word of God declares that homosexuals can change (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Calling homosexuality by a different name may improve its image in the eyes of a worldly society, but it does not change sin into non-sin. The very idea of calling the homosexual “gay” is about like calling a pig “odoriferous.” Dear reader, God created male and female, and designed marriage to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 1:27-28; Genesis 2:18-25; Genesis 5:1-2; Matthew 19:4-6; Hebrews 13:4) – not between those of the same sex.
