It's Not Too Late To Turn Around!

A friend of mine has a Global Positioning System. Before we began a short journey to test the device, my friend programmed our destination into the GPS and the device did its job in plotting our course. Then we sat back and listened to a female voice direct us.

“Turn right in 2 miles,” the voice said with a confident tone. In fact, when we made an unexpected detour to get gas, the voice was a bit insistent: It said, “Please make a U-turn at your earliest convenience!”

The GPS unit had calculated a route for us, but we had gone a different way. If we had continued going our own way, we would have become lost.

Isaiah 53:6 reminds us that just like sheep, we have a tendency to go astray. That’s why we need a Shepherd to guide us and a Savior to pay the penalty for our sin (Psalm 23:1-3; Isaiah 53:6; Isaiah 53:9; cf. 1 Peter 2:22-25; 1 John 3:5).

No matter how far we have traveled in a wrong direction, it’s not too late to turn around! God is ready to forgive and restore (Psalm 32:5; Psalm 23:3; Psalm 51:12).

Dear reader, if we are ever headed down a wrong road, let’s be willing to make a U-turn back to the Lord.
