"If I Were The Devil"

Before his death in 2009, conservative talk radio broadcast pioneer, Paul Harvey, would broadcast news and comment on weekday mornings and mid-days, and at noon on Saturdays, as well as his famous "The Rest of the Story" segments.

Paul Harvey News was carried on 1,200 radio stations, 400 Armed Forces Network stations and 300 newspapers. His broadcasts and newspaper columns have been reprinted in the Congressional Record more than those of any other commentator.

He was a native son of Oklahoma (Tulsa), who possessed a magical fluidity to his storytelling, not unlike another native son, Will Rogers.

My parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, rarely missed Paul Harvey's daily radio segment of down-to-earth, honest reporting of the news.

One of my favorite broadcasts was Mr. Harvey's classic, "If I Were The Devil" in which he lists some things he would do if he were the devil. I have reproduced some of them here.

Perhaps it would behoove our country's leaders to listen to the above classic speech by Mr. Harvey at least once a month, so they could keep America on God's side rather than the devil's side.
