"Soular Power Is Used Here"

As I was driving to purchase some groceries some time ago, I spotted a church marquee sign with the above titled words. Another way of expressing the above words would be to say, “The Power Of The Gospel Is Used Here”; for the power of the gospel saves souls (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 1:18).

According to the inspired Apostle Paul in Romans 1:16, the gospel is indeed the “power” [Grk. “dunamis“; Strong‘s #1411, from which we derive our English word “dynamite”] “of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

This “power” inherent in the gospel, was used extensively in the first century to save multiple souls (Acts 2:41; Acts 4:1-4; Acts 5:12-14) as well as individual souls (Acts 8:13,25-39; Acts 9:1-20), and it can be used in the twenty-first century in the same manner.

However, before this “soular power” can be of any benefit, spiritual "seed" (Luke 8:11) has to first be "sown" [planted] — 1 Corinthians 3:6; cf. Acts 18:1-4); then someone has to "water" (1 Corinthians 3:6; cf. Acts 18:24-28); then we must allow God to "give the increase" (Acts 5:1-14).

Beloved, is “soular power” being used at your congregation? If not, perhaps your congregation needs to “plug into” that power — the power that converts souls to Christ (Acts 2:37-41).
