One Soul At A Time

Many times as Christians, we have somehow succumbed to the false idea that we don’t count for much. But that certainly is not supported by what we read in the Gospels regarding Jesus’ ministry. Even though our Lord interacted with multitudes of people (Matthew 11:7; Matthew 12:15; Matthew 13:34; Matthew 15:10,30-31; Matthew 19:2; Matthew 23:1), He never thought of Himself as being “too important” to interact with one person at a time.

How encouraging then to read of His conversation at night with an individual named Nicodemus (John 3:1-21); of His visit with one woman at the well of Samaria (John 4:1-26); and of His personal interest in one wee little man by the name of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10).

How surprised Zacchaeus must have been when Jesus singled him out of a crowd of people, calling him by name, saying, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house” (Luke 19:5).

If we are ever tempted to minimize the value of the souls we come in contact with, let’s remember Jesus’ example of interacting with one soul at a time.

How can we successfully reach the seemingly insurmountable goal that our Lord has given us to “teach all nations”? (Matthew 28:19 KJV).

One soul at a time.
