Let Us "Sing A New Song" To The Lord!

The Psalmist in Psalm 98:1, exhorts us to “sing a new song” to the Lord who “has done marvelous things.” We should praise the Lord — especially in times of great difficulty — for God remembers “His mercy and His faithfulness“ (Psalm 98:3).

Although this Psalm is about freeing the Israelites from slavery (Psalm 98:3), its also a prophecy of our salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord — about His freeing us from the bondage of sin (Romans 6:1-18; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

As we remember what God has done for us (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:1-11), we can trust Him to help us with today’s difficulties as well as tomorrow’s uncertainties.

The ending verses of this Psalm has the creation presenting praise before the Lord (Psalm 98:7-9; cf. Isaiah 42:10-12).

Let us also join God’s creation in singing “a new song” of redemption and praise to our loving Savior (Revelation 5:6-9; Revelation 14:1-3).

Redeemed how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed thru His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am.

Redeemed, redeemed, Redeemed by the
Blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed, His child,
And forever, I am.” (see videoFanny J. Crosby
