On Measuring Our True Value And Worth

The story is told of a man who once attended a class reunion vowing he would never return to another, simply because he felt terribly worthless and unsuccessful. The reason being was that some former classmates who attended were now doctors, lawyers, and dentists. A few were even officers in large corporations.

By contrast, the man worked at an ordinary hourly job. He was told that his feelings of worthlessness stemmed from measuring his value by the wrong standards (2 Corinthians 10:17-18).

Beloved, God does not think any more or less of us based on our job, bank account, or home. Our worth and dignity are rooted in the fact that God created us (Genesis 1:27) and that His Son died for us (John 3:16-17). What is important to Him, is our degree of trust and our service to others that we provide (Matthew 25:34-40).

Jesus said that those who follow Him, regardless of their earthly status, will be rewarded for their faith and commitment (Matthew 19:16-29). And there will be many surprises (Matthew 19:30).

Our prayer should be, "Lord, help us to measure our true value and worth by Your standard and not our own (Romans 10:3-4), in Jesus' name, Amen!"
