Too Late To Care

Sad to say, our present day society is slowing turning into a society of folks who seemingly just don't care (Romans 1:28-32). Perhaps one of the reasons our society doesn't care about the welfare of others, is simply because our government doesn't seem to care either. Our elected leaders only care about padding their pocket books (also here) and have been out of touch with their constituents for many years.

Take for example the gap between the have's and the have not's in our country is constantly increasing. How about the shoddy or no care our war veterans are receiving? Did you know that on any given night, there are almost 50,000 veterans who are homeless? With a government that is out of control, constantly spending taxpayer's hard-earned money, does anyone really care about the constant rising of the national debt? Does anyone care about the inflation rate in our country, i.e., high gas and food prices? How about general welfare spending in our country? How about unsustainable military spending? And we could go on and on.

How about church attendance? Denominational church attendance has been on a downward decline for the past sixty or more years. The Montana Street congregation of the Lord's people used to have over 600 members back in the 1960's (standing room only, I've been told). Today, the congregation is just a shell of what it was back then, with a combined 160 Spanish and Anglo members holding forth.

Beloved, the above statistics are a sad testimony of a seemingly non-caring society. But you know what? One day, people will care when they face the Judgment, and hear the Lord say, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:21-23), but then it will be too late to care (cf. Matthew 25:31-46; Luke 15:19-31)

As God's people, let us humbly pray for a religious revival in our country a revival that will motivate all citizens to once again truly care for one other and for Almighty God.
