Teenagers -- Honoring Your Parents -- And Other Tidbits Of Wisdom

Sister Cindy Colley has written another excellent article here regarding the difficulties of growing up as a teenager, honoring your parents, and other tidbits of wisdom as she writes to her teenage self that teenage self now being in the form of her 28-year-old married daughter, Hannah Colley Giselbach.

The following are Sister Colley's ending remarks regarding the godly aspect of listening to parents:  "I’ve given you lots of reasons why you should listen to your parents, but none of them are the MOST important reason. This particular reason far outshines any other reason why you should honor your parents: God commanded it."

Here are two other biblical reasons for obeying parents:

1) "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” (Ephesians 6:1-3).

2) "Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord." (Colossians 3:20).

Teens, the above scriptural reasons for obeying your parents are more than sufficient in providing you the motivation to not only lead a godly life here on earth, but the idea of taking someone else with you to heaven.
