The Gospel Plan of Salvation is centered around the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). When we are baptized "into Christ" (Gal. 3:27) we are then "clothed with Christ" (Gal. 3:27 NIV).
When we obey a "form" or "pattern" of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord (Romans 6:1-15, we have yielded ourselves to become "servants of righteousness" (Romans 6:17-18), and become a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
We leave the "old man" of sin behind (Romans 6:6) and put on the "new man" (Colossians 3:9-10). Now we continually "walk in the light" of God's Word, trusting Him in our Christian walk (1 John 1:7; Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 3:5-6), to generously "forgive us our sins" when we "confess" and "forsake" them (1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13).
