We all love to hear a genuine compliment because it makes us feel good about ourselves to have the approval or admiration of others if only for a few moments.
By contrast, the apostle Paul looked at what others thought of him or even what he thought of himself as “a very small thing” (1 Corinthians 4:3).
He concluded:
Beloved, when we see our Lord on that great judgment day, there won’t be any greater compliment than when we hear Him say:
“Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21,23).
