The Difference A Mother's Love Can Make

As we come to another Mother's Day, I've looked at this video several times, and every time (with tears), I thank the God of heaven for sparing precious lives, such as this little baby. It's amazing how a loving mother's touch can make the difference between life and death.

My godly mother passed from this life in 2008 at the age of 87. She was instrumental in taking care of my two younger brothers and me, teaching us how to prepare meals and cook for ourselves. She was frugal with the income my father generated from his television repair business. Being an excellent seamstress, she made our clothes for us during our formative years. She helped my father in his television repair business with the bookkeeping chores, so that he could concentrate on the repair and sales end of his business.

All she ever wanted is for us three boys to be in closer proximity to her than we were, but we were all with her in spirit, for we loved her very much. My youngest brother took care of our mother when she could no longer take care of herself, and for his sacrifice, I am eternally grateful.

My mother more than fulfilled the role of the woman that Solomon so well described in Proverbs 31 — that priceless woman — that woman whose "price is far above rubies."

Yes, a Mother's love can make a difference in the lives of her children!

Dear Lord thank you for all of the godly mothers (and grandmothers) in our country who have sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice their own needs, in order to provide for the needs of their family and those outside their family, in Jesus name, Amen!

The lyrics of this song, as well as this poem, best express my sentiments this Mother's Day.
