A Fascinating Prophecy Of Christ

In Deuteronomy 18:15-19, there is a fascinating prophecy of Christ given by God through the writer Moses, the fulfillment of which is confirmed in Christ. Peter briefly refers to this prophecy in Acts 3:19-23 during his sermon on the day of Pentecost.

Looking at the criteria for this prophesied Prophet of God, we see some striking similarities between Moses and Christ:

1) Both Moses and Christ were to be chosen from among the Jews (Deuteronomy 18:18; cf. Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:30-33; John 1:45).

2) Christ was to be like Moses — a prophet, lawgiver and mediator (Deuteronomy 18:18; cf. Deuteronomy 5:1-5; Exodus 20:18-22; Deuteronomy 34:10; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 1:17,45).

3) Like Moses, God would put words into the mouth of Christ directly — not through any third party (Deuteronomy 18:18; cf. Exodus 33:11; Deuteronomy 34:10; John 17:8).

4) Similar to the prophet Moses, any individual who refused to heed the words of his Prophet [Christ], would be held liable before God (Deuteronomy 18:19; Acts 3:23; John 12:48-50).
