"The Rainy Day Is Coming"

Because of my grandmother, I learned many wise maxims that she passed down to me from her wise mother. One of those maxims was, "The rainy day is coming." What she meant by that maxim, was that I needed to prepared myself for any unforeseen events or circumstances, whether financial or otherwise, by saving any monies that I earned.

In August of 2012, legendary investor, Jim Rogers, wrote an eye-opening article, entitled, "Prepare For Financial Armageddon." In his article, Mr. Rogers warns the citizens of our country to prepare for financial Armageddon due to the financial crisis that now exists due to the unrestrained spending habits of our government leaders. Financially speaking, "The rainy day is coming!" However, there's another "rainy day" that is coming our way, and it will be in the form of severe persecution. As it happened to the apostle Paul, so it will happen to all faithful Christians.

The apostle Paul tells us: "Persecutions afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra - what persecutions I endured ..... Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:11-13).

As Paul instructed Timothy on "how" to prepare for this upcoming "rainy day" of persecution, we also need to hear and heed the same inspired instructions: "But as for you, continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 3:14-15).

Paul also praised Timothy for following his "doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, and perseverance" (2 Timothy 3:10) — qualities of faith and character that would be needed during severe times of persecution. Dear reader, there's no doubt in this writer's mind that spiritually speaking, "The Rainy Day Is Coming. The question is, "Are we prepared for that "rainy day"?
