Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist, philosopher and poet once stated, “The true test of civilization is not the census, nor the size of cities, nor the crops – no, but the kind of man the country turns out” (source).How true a statement this is. The quality and character of a country is dependent on the kind of man it turns out.
The Proverb writer tells us:
“Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34) - (see article).The inspired writer Peter must have known this truth from Proverbs, when he stated:
“But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:35).Dear reader, the bottom line in all of this is: Character Counts!
