When a person has a prejudiced mind, that person is literally cursed because prejudice never saved a soul nor settled any question in the light of truth. Pertaining to religion, prejudice prevents a person from openly investigating the teachings of the Bible to see if what he is practicing corresponds with those teachings (Acts 17:10-11).
Prejudice also causes individuals to attack anyone preaching or teaching God’s truth when Scriptural arguments cannot be given in answer (Acts 7). When one possesses a prejudicial attitude, he is admitting defeat in logical reasoning, adamantly refusing to pay heed to any teaching different than what he already holds to be true.
It is this kind of close-minded attitude that will prevent many folks from rendering obedience to the gospel of Christ (Acts 13:44-45,50).
Let us be willing to lay aside all prejudice, any preconceived ideas, and study God’s Book with an open mind (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV; cf. Romans 12:2).
Dear reader, if we will willingly approach the Bible as our only standard for what we believe, religious division will immediately cease to exist. The end result will be the unity that our Lord so fervently prayed for in John 17:20-21. Also see 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 4:32.
