The "Mattress Springs Church Of Christ"

Brother Marshall Reid, preacher for the Bulverde church of Christ in Bulverde, Texas has written an interesting article entitled, “Why Assemble?“ In his article, he explains what the “Mattress Springs Church of Christ” is all about:
That’s the church of sleeping in on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, many people feel that attending the Bible classes and worship assemblies are optional.
Brother Reid lists three reasons why we, as God’s people, need to assemble:

1) We’re commanded to assemble (Hebrews 10:25).
2) We exhort one another when we assemble (Hebrews 10:24).
3) We grow spiritually (Acts 2:42). We also help others grow as well.

He ends his good article by saying:
If we truly want to love and serve God with all our heart, and with all our mind, and with all our strength (Mark 12:30), then we’ll make every effort to assemble with the saints, no matter how inconvenient, no matter how bad the Bible class teacher is, no matter how bad the preaching is. The Lord knew what he was doing when he told us to assemble. Let’s encourage one another. Let’s grow spiritually together. Let’s help each other get to heaven.
Amen, brother Reid!

Beloved, as Brother Reid has suggested above, let’s never “sleep in” at the “Mattress Springs” congregation on Sunday morning. Instead, let’s assemble as the Lord’s people (Hebrews 10:24-25), “Let’s encourage one another; Let’s grow spiritually together; and Let’s help each other get to heaven.
