A Fault Within Ourselves

It’s so easy to blame others for our failures, is it not? While it is true that others often make it difficult for us to succeed, to blame our defeat on others, is to admit that we ourselves are not big enough to overcome the obstacles that are in the way.

When the expert misses the mark, he looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bull’s eye, or to reach the goal, is not so much the fault of something beyond ourselves, as it is a fault within ourselves.

To improve our aim, we must improve ourselves. To be victorious, we must overcome the difficulties and not be overcome by them.

All obstacles are but a challenge to the person determined to win. Of many a situation, it has been said, “It can’t be done.” But of every achievement made against insurmountable odds, it can also be said, “It couldn’t be done, but somehow it was done.

Dear reader, let us remember that with God, “all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26; cf. Genesis 18:14; Numbers 11:23; Jeremiah 32:17; Matthew 3:9; Luke 1:37).
