A couple of years ago, I was looking at a B.C. Comic strip, in which one of the characters was putting what looked like a ten dollar bill into a “swear jar” because he rolled a piano over his toes. In other words, the greater the infraction, the more money the guilty party would throw into the jar.
Having a swear jar might not be such a bad idea for those folks in our society who seemingly can’t utter a sentence without using some kind of swear word.
Since money is such a powerful motivator for many people, perhaps having a swear jar might provide them with a constant reminder of the kind of vocabulary they presently possess, and then motivate them to “clean up” their vocabulary.
