A recent CBS News article entitled, “Texting: Can we pull the plug on our obsession?”, got me to thinking that if texting and talking is such a large part of today’s fast-paced, “plugged in” society (and according to the above article, it is, 91 percent of the time - also see video), then why not use this texting obsession for the glory of God? (Isaiah 43:7; Matthew 5:14-16), elevating texting from a worldly plane to a spiritual plane (Colossians 3:1-3).
The following are some texting suggestions (there are many others):
Instead of worldly texting, why not text for the glory of God? (Matthew 5:14-16). Let’s seriously think about it, for “The harvest truly is plentiful….” (Matthew 9:37).

- Why not text our friends, asking them if they have any Bible questions that we might be able to answer? — and then if they do, text them the Bible answer along with applicable Scripture — or better yet, ask them if they would be willing to study the Bible with us in a home environment, i.e., at the dinner table — ours or theirs.
- Why not text our friends, providing them with Internet links to Christian blogs and Bible study websites? Or sites that offer Bible correspondence courses?
