"Tell What Great Things God Has Done For You"

The story is told of two young men who had been friends from childhood. One was a Christian, the other was not. The non-Christian was about to embark on a long ocean voyage, and his Christian friend knew that he needed to speak to him about Christ before he left. He told himself, “I’ll do it on the way to the dock,” but when they reached the dock, he still had not done so.

He followed the man on board to say goodbye, and thought, “When we get the baggage to his room, I’ll speak to him.” But the porter took the trunks and suitcases, so they did not visit the stateroom. Finally he said to himself, “I’ll be sure to converse with him about the Lord in some quiet place before the ship departs.” Then there came the announcement that all visitors must leave. Two months later word came that the non-Christian man had died overseas.

In the gospel written by Luke, we read of a man possessed by many demons who had been wonderfully restored by Jesus (Luke 8:26-37). In gratitude to the Lord, he wanted to stay with Him to worship Him (Luke 8:38), but Jesus told him to, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” After that, the man “went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him” (Luke 8:39).

Beloved, let us make application of Jesus’ words to our life and tell someone of His generous mercy, grace and salvation  beginning at home. Let us not put it off  let us tell someone about Jesus today!
