Let's Not Leave The Seed In The Barn!

The story is told of a man who was once treated kindly by a people in a remote African village. Wanting to show his appreciation, the man sent the natives a gift in the form of a sundial. His thinking was, that it would help all of the people in the village more easily determine the time of day.

The natives were so appreciative of the gift, that they built a hut over it to protect it from the elements. However, protecting the sundial from the elements, rendered it useless for its designed purpose.

Similarly, God has given us a gift in the form of the saving gospel of Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:1-4; 1 Timothy 6:20; Titus 1:3). The only way we can demonstrate our true appreciation of God’s truth, is not by keeping it to ourselves, but diligently teaching it to others (Acts 5:42; Acts 15:35; cf. Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; 2 Timothy 2:1-2).

Beloved, let’s not leave the seed in the barn, remembering that seed (Luke 8:11; cf. 1 Peter 1:23) left in the barn does not produce a crop (Matthew 25:24-30).
