Our Faith Must Be An Unwavering Faith

If we were ever invited to a meeting at the White House with the President, we would first encounter a protocol officer who would meet us and outline proper procedures for meeting with him. It would be unacceptable for us to let loose with a burst of undignified verbiage or any kind of negative criticism.

And so it should come as no surprise that God’s Word makes it clear that there is a protocol for entering into the presence of God. Hebrews 11:6 provides us one aspect of appropriate interaction:

He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God wants us to be fully devoted to Him — and He takes it personally when our hearts are filled with criticism, unbelief, and doubt. James tells us that when we ask God for wisdom, the key to His response is whether or not we are asking “in faith” — a faith that is unwavering (James 1:6; cf. Mark 11:23-24).

So as we approach God in prayer, let us approach Him with a heart of unwavering faith, leaving any doubts at the door, following the proper protocol. He will be more than willing to provide us all of the wisdom we need so that we might live acceptably before Him (James 1:5; cf. Proverbs 2:1-9).
