There are many and sundry reasons the Bible gives for our studying the sacred volume. The following are just a “few” of those reasons:
1) One must study….to attain spiritual “light” (Psalm 119:130).
2) One must study….to have “understanding” (Psalm 119:130).
3) One must study….to acquire spiritual "knowledge" (Proverbs 2:6).
4) One must study….to show himself “approved” unto God (2 Timothy 2:15).
5) One must study….the Word before the Word can “dwell” in him (Colossians 3:16).
6) One must study….the Word before he can "abide" in the Word (John 8:31-32).
7) One must study….before he can "live" by every word (Matthew 4:4).
8) One must study….the Word before he can "receive" the Word (James 1:21).
9) One must study….to know what "sin" is (Romans 7:7; cf. 1 John 3:4).
10) One must study….to be “entire” (James 1:3-4).
11) One must study….God to “love” God (1 John 2:3-5).
12) One must study….God to “know” God (1 John 2:3).
Since Bible study is so important, and since so much depends on it (John 12:48), how can a person be so negligent and indifferent toward it? Beloved, let us study God’s word "daily" (Acts 17:11), with a view toward heaven and eternity! (Colossians 1:3-5; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
