Always Hold On To The Unchanging Hand Of God

The story is told of an elderly woman in her 90’s who one day decided to tell her life story to her preacher who wanted to know about the difficulties she had experienced during her long lifespan. She told him of the many trials and tribulations she had faced — the loss of her spouse in war, a paralyzed child, the loss of her home in a storm, the loss of her job, and many other difficulties.

As she was recalling the above events, the preacher noticed that in front of her, was her Bible opened to the book of Revelation. She smiled as she noticed him observing her open Bible, and told him of the great peace, comfort, and thankfulness she felt after reading that great letter of "victory" (Revelation 15:1-2).

When she had finished telling her life’s story, the preacher could tell that throughout her life, she had epitomized the patient endurance and wisdom as recorded in Revelation by the inspired writer John (Revelation 2:10-11).

Beloved, no matter what the devil throws at us in life, let us put all of those things under the "light" of God’s word (Psalm 119:105). Let us assess all things from the perspective of Holy Writ, knowing that God will never leave us nor forsake us (Genesis 28:15; Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5). Knowing that His promises always hold true (2 Corinthians 1:19-20; Romans 15:8), and that His truth never waivers in the face of intense scrutiny (Romans 3:1-4).

As the elderly lady in the above story had done, let us always hold on to the unchanging hand of God (Malachi 3:6), as we experience the trials and tribulations of life, for He will go with us "through" any valley (Psalm 23:4).
