Heeding The Warnings Of Christ's Return

The attack on Pearl Harbor (see videos & documentary) demonstrated the fact that not only was our military caught off-guard, but the whole nation as well. In their satisfaction with the trivia of everyday living, nearly everyone ignored all of the evidence that an attack was coming, and thus the people were astonished when the attack came.

The Bible repeatedly informs and warns us regarding our Lord’s return (Matthew 24:42-44; Luke 12:35-40,42-46; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10). Men are warned to flee from the wrath to come (Matthew 3:7; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; cf. Romans 5:9). They are warned that sudden destruction will overtake them (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

That destruction will come as swiftly as the "twinkling of an eye" (1 Corinthians 15:52), and unexpectedly as a "thief in the night" (1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10). In spite of all the warnings that are contained in God‘s word, men continue to be preoccupied with their everyday trivia (cf. Luke 17:26-27).

Beloved, when the Lord returns, the world will be awakened with a blow far more destructive than Pearl Harbor (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; 2 Peter 3:10,12). Let us not allow that day to take us unawares (cf. Matthew 24:42-51). Let’s heed the warnings of Christ’s return and be ready (Matthew 24:44; Luke 12:40).
