What About Tattoos?

Many folks today are getting tattoos for various and sundry reasons. Some are even putting them all over their body in order to make some dramatic statement about themselves, or as a motivator for other people to notice them.

Some questions we need to ask are, “What is our motive for acquiring a tattoo?” Is it because everyone else is doing it? Is it a means by which to draw attention to ourselves? (see article).

Is it to enhance our self-esteem? Does it indicate a rebellious attitude towards societal norms? How will adding a tattoo effect our influence?

These, and other questions we might pose, need to be answered in context with the teachings of the New Testament.

While the New Testament is silent regarding tattoos specifically, it does contain spiritual principles for us to seriously consider before acquiring a tattoo.
