Just Walk A Little Farther!

As I was walking past an elementary school parking lot this morning, I noticed that one automobile was parked at the very West corner of the lot. All of the other automobiles in the parking lot were parked as close to the front door of the school as possible.

Obviously, the occupants of those cars didn't want to walk very far to the front door of the school building. I've seen the very same thing in grocery store parking lots as well. In fact, if some folks could drive inside the building, they would gladly do so (what does this tell you?).

This got me to thinking, if I wanted to hire some folks for a successful startup business, would I hire those people who parked close to a building, or those who parked farther away?

Those who parked farther away would be my choice, simply because they would have exerted far more effort in walking to the front door than those who parked close to the entrance of the building. Plus, they would receive the added health benefit attributed to walking farther (see here and here).

Those folks in life who choose to just walk a little farther, will more than likely succeed in whatever they do. They are not afraid to go the extra mile in serving others, including themselves (Matthew 22:37-39).

Beloved, let us never be afraid or too lazy to just walk a little farther in serving the Lord. He will reward us in due time (1 Corinthians 15:58).
