Our God Is With Us "In This Place"

Our God is with us wherever we go. Of a certainty, He is in the commonplace, whether we know it or not. Jacob said of a most unlikely spot:

Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it” (Genesis 28:16).

We may not realize He is close by. We may feel lonely and depressed. Our day may not be going very well — perhaps bleak and dreary without a visible ray of hope — and yet, He is present.

As Jacob reminded himself, we need to remind ourselves each morning when we awaken that God is here, “in this place,” and present with us. As we spend time with Him each morning, reading His Word and responding in prayer, it reinforces our sense of His presence — that He is always near.

Although we do not see Him, Peter reminds us that we can love Him and rejoice in His love for us with “inexpressible” and glorious joy (1 Peter 1:8).

Amid the clamor and tumult of our very visible and audible world, let us listen carefully to God’s voice as we read and study His word (1 Samuel 3:7-10; 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV). Let us communicate with Him frequently in prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Let us learn to look to Him in our trying circumstances, for He is with us wherever we go (Genesis 28:15; Joshua 1:5; Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5).
