Secular Pluralism Vs. Christian Pluralism

On page 13 and page 17 of the April-June, 2012 issue of the Magnolia Messenger, is the above titled article, written by brother Roger Hines, former instructor at Magnolia Bible College, who presently preaches for the church in Canton, Mississippi.

In his article that‘s well worth reading, brother Hines notes the differences between secular pluralism and Christian pluralism.

Regarding secular pluralism:

….by its very nature, secular pluralism is divisive and self-serving…..secular pluralism is easy and requires no self-denial. It is lauded by our modern society because in the name of tolerance and civility, people can reject the lordship of Christ.

Regarding Christian pluralism:

Christian pluralism is the recognition that Christ died for all people of all races and nationalities and that male and female both were acceptable with Him. The focus is on what Christ makes us and not what we make Christ.

Brother Hines concludes:

Only the oneness of Christ can make us strong. Only the oneness of Christ makes our differences, which are impotent to save, unimportant. Only the oneness of Christ makes sense of e pluribus Unum (on our coins – “from the many one [people is formed]”).

To which I add my hearty Amen!
