"Seven Days Without God Makes One Weak"

The above parody title, was the message that I recently noticed on a local Baptist church sign. This short title speaks volumes regarding the health of our spiritual life. Seven days without God and His word, not only will make one spiritually weak, but over a period of time, can lead to spiritual death (2 Peter 2; cf. Romans 6:23).

The solution to this problem is (1) having a balanced diet of God’s word on a daily basis (Matthew 26:55; Acts 5:41-42; Acts 17:11), and (2) receiving spiritual encouragement from the fellowship received when we assemble with fellow-saints (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23-25; cf. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17).

Beloved, let us be encouraged to study and make application of God’s word (2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 5:13-14 KJV), that we may “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18; cf. Ephesians 4:15; 1 Peter 2:1-2).
