In Romans 1:18-32 (Phillips Translation), we can plainly see the type of society that God condemns — a society who forfeits the truth of God and accepts the lies of Satan. Beloved, we are sadly seeing such a society unfold before our very eyes. Over the past 60-plus years, we have seen a continuous downward spiral of the spiritual and moral values that our society once held in high esteem.
The evidence of the above truth is illustrated in these two articles here and here. Religion is definitely dying out in America when only 18% of people 60 and younger attend church services and where less than 50% of folks believe in God. This trend is brought about by the godless ideology of relativism (see here and here) and other godless ideologies.
Satan knows that if he can get people to not "study" the Bible for themselves (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) and obey its commands and precepts, they will eventually believe any lie (see article) that Satan throws at them (Proverbs 14:15). Note that in Satan's discourse with Eve in the Garden (in the form of the serpent - 2 Corinthians 11:3; John 8:44), he only changed one word of God's warning that she and Adam would die if they ate of the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:17). Regarding the consequences of the eating of that tree, Satan told Eve, "you will NOT surely die" (Genesis 3:4 - emphasis mine), and Eve, along with Adam, unhesitatingly took Satan's bait, hook, line, and sinker (Genesis 3:5-6 - see commentary).
The altering of God's word to Adam and Eve by Satan (the serpent) by the addition of the word "not" caused them to be cut off from "the tree of life" (Genesis 3:22-24). When mankind decides to rebel against the commands contained in God's word, God has no choice but to give disobedient man up to his own devices (Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 1:18-24,26-32) — all because of the fact that man (through Satan's evil influence) "changed the truth of God into a lie" (Romans 1:25 KJV).
Beloved, a society who forfeits the truth of God and accepts the lies of Satan (John 8:44), can only look forward to God's irrevocable judgment against them (Romans 2:1-9; cf. Isaiah 65:1-7; Psalm 9:17).
