If You Put Lipstick On A Sow

As I read this USA Today article about the Ashley Madison website changing their controversial slogan, "Life is short, have an affair" to a new tagline, "Find your moment" .... I found myself softly chuckling inside.

Does Ashley Madison really think that putting a different label on sin will make that sin less offensive to God? (Habakkuk 1:12-13). Do they really think that putting lipstick on a sow, will somehow change the sow into a sophisticated lady? Will it change an ungodly woman into a godly woman?

We all know the answer to the above questions.

Regarding the ungodly or immoral woman, my advice is the same as that of the wise Solomon in Proverbs 5 AMP, specifically vs. 8 NLT: "Stay away from her! Don't go near the door of her house!" And that inspired advice would apply to the Ashley Madison website as well.

We know from reading Hebrews 13:4, that the marriage bed is "undefiled." And we also know that anything that defiles will not be found in that heavenly city (Revelation 21:27). Will not soliciting sexual favors from an "immoral woman" (Proverbs 5:3) defile us before God? (1 Corinthians 6:12-20).

Beloved, "God is not mocked" (Galations 6:7-8). Sin is still sin (1 John 3:4 NLT), no matter how you label it or how much lipstick you put on it. God will judge all who practice sin in the light of His divine and authoritative word (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; Acts 17:30-31; Romans 2:14-16).
