The Biblical Solution To Corruption On A Wide Scale

After reading this article about Wells Fargo bank employees creating millions of unauthorized bank and credit card accounts in order for the bank to make more money in fees and sales targets, it made me realize how corruption on a wide scale continues in our nation.

In August, 2011, widespread corruption was found in the El Paso School District (see article), when a multitude of school administrators and employees were arrested and charged with various public corruption charges.

Beloved, it is indeed sad when bank and school district administrators/officials (or any other entity) are found guilty of violating the public trust. It raises the question of who can we trust? (also see this article). And most importantly, what message is this sending to the young people of our nation? If our so-called role models are violating existing laws, will this not send out a message to our young people that they too can violate existing laws without any repercussions? (Romans 13:1-6 NLT; cf. Galations 6:7-8). Then what kind of society will we end up with?

Answer: A lawless society resulting in mayhem and chaos (Romans 1:15-32). Every man doing what is right "in his own eyes" (Deuteronomy 12:8; Judges 17:6; Judges 21:25; Psalm 36:1-2; Proverbs 12:15; Proverbs 16:2; Proverbs 21:2). Do we really want to live in such a society?

What is the biblical solution to the above problem of corruption on a wide scale? The Psalmist provides us the answer in Psalm 78:1-8 NLT. Since our society has abdicated itself from teaching God's laws and commands to the children of three generations past (60 years), the present generation is now suffering the consequences of such.

When will mankind ever learn that God's plan for instilling moral values in both parents and children, is the only viable plan to prevent a lawless and corrupt society. No other plan devised by corrupt mankind will ever work.

  1. Is it too late for our nation to repent and pray? I'm fearful that it is.
