"Humankind Is Inching Closer To Demise, And It's Our Fault"

In reading this USA Today article about theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking's assessment of how much time man has left here on earth, I had to chuckle, because only God knows when He is going to bring this earthly existence to a close (Matthew 24:35-36; cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6; 2 Peter 3:7-12), not Stephen Hawking.

However, Mr. Hawking is correct in stating that "humankind is inching closer to demise, and it's our fault."

Yes, because of Adam and Eve's breaking of God's law, bringing sin into the world (Genesis 2-3; Romans 3), this earth is definitely inching closer to its demise daily (2 Peter 3:8-10), and it's definitely our fault (Romans 3:10-13,23; Romans 5:12).

Thankfully, God has provided "the way" for humanity to escape earth's demise (John 14:6; Acts 4:10-12), and that "way" can only be found for those folks who have been obedient to our Lord's salvation plan, thus finding themselves "in Christ" (Galations 3:26-28; cf. Romans 8:1-2).
