The Imagination Of Our Heart

Having a great imagination as a child, I pretended that I was a cowboy, Indian, firefighter, train engineer, airline pilot, and a multitude of other characters.

The dictionary provides us with this definition of imagine: "To imagine something is to picture it in your head. When we imagine things, we're using our imagination" (source).

In John Lennon's song, "Imagine" (see lyrics and video), Mr. Lennon is asking us to imagine a place where things that divide people (religion, possessions, etc.), does not exist (see analysis of lyrics here).

Beloved, there's no "imagine" to it. The reality is that people will always be divided on religious issues (and most anything else), unless they are in humble agreement to walk together with God (Amos 3:3; Micah 6:8).

The prophet Jeremiah realized that, "It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps" (Jeremiah 10:23). The reality is that man must be willing to trust God and allow Him to direct his steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).

If man is not willing to humbly submit his will to God's will (Luke 22:39-42), then any imagination of his heart will more than likely direct him down the wrong path (Genesis 6:5).
