The young lady in this video is demonstrating the SOAP method of Bible study. As she illustrates, these four letters stand for the following:
S-cripture.
O-bservation.
A-pplication.
P-rayer.
The above method of Bible study has a lasting effect, simply because when we write something down on paper, the mind tends to remember it much longer than it otherwise would (see article).
This method is similar in nature to the three key "R" words that I have written in this article, with the exception of adding the "P" for prayer. Any Bible study method which enables the student to retain key words, key phrases, and key applications from the scriptures found in God's word, is definitely a "plus" in properly understanding the scriptures.
