"A Better Place"

On country icon Glen Campbell's website here, Glen's family announced his passing today at 81 years of age (see bio here and here). This writer vividly remembers listening to the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour back in the late 60's and early 70's, in which Glen showcased a plurality of Hollywood stars, comedians, and musicians (see here). Glen was a great guitarist, singer (had perfect pitch), and entertainer. He will sorely be missed in the world of music and entertainment.

An interesting cut from one of Glen's final albums, features this video entitled, "A Better Place."  The lyrics are as follows:

"I've tried and I have failed, Lord
I've won and I have lost
I've lived and I have loved, Lord
Sometimes at such a cost

One thing I know
The world's been good to me
A better place
Awaits you'll see

Some days I'm so confused, Lord
My past gets in my way
I need the ones I love, Lord
More and more each day

One thing I know
The world's been good to me
A better place
Awaits you'll see, ooh
A better place" (source).

Throughout his turbulent life of ups and downs (including his bout with Alzheimers disease - see the 7 stages) , Glen Campbell, recognized that even though the world had been good to him throughout his musical career, there was still "a better place" (Hebrews 11:16 NLT). That "better place" awaits each of us who remain faithful to the Lord, as the Hebrew writer enumerates in his list of faithful saints in Hebrews 11 NLT. Beloved, let us remain faithful, even in the face of certain death (Revelation 2:10 NLT), and we too will receive not only the victory crown -- but "a better place" as well (John 14:1-3 NLT).
