The Only Question Left For Us To Answer

In country singer George Strait's song, "You'll Be There" --  a tribute to his late daughter, Jennifer, whose life was tragically cut short in a 1986 traffic fatality (see article). there's line in the third stanza of that song which reads: "I'll see you on the other side, if I make it" (see lyrics).

Whoever wrote the lyrics to that song, was obviously not familiar with clear Bible teaching about the day of Judgment. In Matthew 25:31-46 NLT, we immediately see that "all the nations" will be assembled (vs. 32). This means that all individuals representing those nations will be assembled, and give an account of their life, whether it be good or evil (2 Corinthians 5:10 NLT).

According to the above verses, we will all be "on the other side" -- there won't be any "if I make it" to it (and yes, I know about poetic license). The Master shall separate the sheep from the goats (vs. 32) -- the sheep being on His right hand, and the goats being on His left (vs. 33). The ones on His right hand will be the ones "blessed" of the Father (vs. 34), and will inherit the prepared Kingdom from the creation of the world. The ones on His left hand will enter into eternal punishment (vs. 41,46).

The only question left for us to answer is, on the day of Judgment,  do we want to be found in the goat line, or the sheep line?

To this writer, that's not a tough question to answer.
