There's Victory In Jesus!

On a rocky knoll called "Little Round Top" (see video) just south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is where one the decisive battles was fought that turned the tide of the American Civil War (1861-1865).

In that battle, Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and his men of the 20th Maine Infantry, stood their ground (see videos). Had Confederate troops gotten past Chamberlain's men, some historians believe the Union army would have been surrounded  possibly lending to the loss of the war. The 20th Main Infantry was the last line of defense.

As followers of Christ, we too are engaged in a war. As we battle "the wiles of the devil," we are called to wear the "whole" armor of God (Ephesians 6:11; cf. 2 Corinthians 6:4-7), and to stand firm in that conflict (Ephesians 6:13).

Like the soldiers in the above battle, we too have a last line of defense. However, for Christians, this defense is far greater than any human army on earth.

In Romans 8:31-39, the apostle Paul tells us that our ultimate confidence is in the undying love of Christ. So complete is our protection, that absolutely nothing can "separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39).

When our arch enemy [Satan] seems overwhelming and all seems lost, remember that we have an unbeatable last line of defense, for "we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).

Yes, dear reader, there's victory in Jesus! (Revelation 15:1-4).
