God Knows Us Individually

A synagogue official by the name of Jairus had an extremely sick daughter at the point of death. Jesus was on His way to Jairus’ home when great multitudes thronged about Him. Suddenly Jesus sensed power going out him and He said, “Who touched My clothes?” (Mark 5:30). His disciples were taken back because they said, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?'” (Mark 5:31).

The woman who touched Jesus had a sickness that had plagued her for twelve years. She had endured many hardships at the hands of physicians, and had only grown worse (Mark 5:25-26). She might have thought that the Lord had abandoned her, but her strong faith did not allow her to entertain that thought. In fact, it was her faith which brought about her healing (Mark 5:34).

The point of this story is that no matter how many people there are in the world, The Lord is aware of us individually. He knows our name and how many hairs we have on our head (or the lack thereof) (Luke 12:7). We may be overlooked by others, but certainly not by the Lord.

No matter how lonely we might feel at times (cf. 1 Kings 18:22; 1 Kings 19:10-18; Romans 11:2-4), we can know this: The Lord knows us and cares deeply about each one of us (John 11:14-35; cf. Luke 19:41; 1 Peter 5:6-7).

Beloved, let us keep on faithfully living as the Lord would have us to live so that He might bless each of us to His glory (Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12; cf. Isaiah 43:7).
