After reading this article from Republican Senator Mike Lee, my solution to poverty is to gradually do away with the welfare state, bringing back jobs that pays a living wage, putting people back to work.
In his article, Senator Lee presents this valid statement:
"The core problem with our welfare system today isn’t just its bloated annual budget, but its tendency to undermine the two most dependable routes out of poverty: marriage and work."
As the statement at end of this article makes clear:
"The collapse of marriage is the principle cause of child poverty and welfare dependence."
The solution then to welfare, is not to reform welfare, but over a period of time, to do away with it completely, restoring a work ethic in our country, and getting back to God's plan for marriage and the family.
