Award winning author, Frank Sonnenberg (here is his blog), provides us some words of wisdom in his article entitled, "Living Life On The Edge."Mr. Sonnenberg lists six bets that are placed every day by folks who like to live life on the edge (my comment after each bet):
1) Getting rich quick --- Can't be done without certain failure.
2) Living large --- Can't keep up with the Joneses (see here).
3) Betting the ranch --- Protecting our existing assets is the only sure thing.
4) Taking care of business --- Heed warnings!
5) Facing the facts --- The rainy day is coming!
6) Putting all your eggs in one basket --- Diversification protects us against any downside risk.
In closing his good article, Mr. Sonnenberg asks this question: "Is it worth the gamble?"
My answer: No -- a thousand times No!
Rather, we need to trust God without reservation, allowing Him to direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). There's no gamble there -- it's a sure thing!
