"How Fragile We Are"

This writer has always been intrigued by lyrics to songs and their meaning, such as the lyrics of this song by English singer, song writer, Sting. In his song entitled, "Fragile" (see history), Sting once again intrigues us with the following lyrics:

"If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay

Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are" (source).

While there are several interpretations to the above lyrics (see here), the main gist of the lyrics, is that violence never achieved anything except to cause undue human suffering and death. Thus, we need to realize (as the Lord does), "how fragile we are" (Genesis 2:7; 3:19; Psalm 103:13-14; Ecclesiastes 3:20; 12:6-7 MEV), and leave any vengeance we might harbor, in God's hands (see here and here).
