Free Internet Service? I Had To Laugh Out Loud!

As I read this USA Today article regarding T-Mobile's plans to provide "free" internet service to 10 million students for remote learning, I had to laugh out loud! For one thing, there's nothing "free" (see here). And because nothing is free, there is going to be some T-Mobile customers experiencing higher internet rates in the near future.

Note the criteria for students receiving this so-called "free" internet service: Quote: "The cellular service network recently announced the start of a $10.7 billion initiative that's meant to deliver free internet connectivity to all U.S. students who are part of free and reduced-price school lunch programs." So those students who are not a part of the "free and reduced-price school lunch programs" will not receive the internet "free" (once again, there is more discrimination designed to divide the "races" - however, there's only one race). Remember, God is no respecter of persons, but human cellular networks can be.

The following quote is what former President Obama told folks regarding internet access in his 2015 State of the Union message (source): "I intend to protect a free and open internet, extend its reach to every classroom, and every community, and help folks build the fastest networks, so that the next generation of digital innovators and entrepreneurs have the platform to keep reshaping our world."

Note: "free and open internet, extend its reach to every classroom, and every community." If this statement was true in 2015, then why is T-Mobile having to provide "free" internet service to 10 million students for remote learning? (and then will have to increase its customer internet service rates because nothing is "free"). In this July, 2015 New American article, the following statement is made regarding President Obama's promise to "ensure that fast and reliable broadband is available to more Americans at lower cost." Note the phrase "lower cost" ..... but still not "free."

Looking at all of the above information, I'm wondering if President Obama "misspoke" regarding his above 2015 statement about "free and open internet" extending its reach to "every classroom, and every community"? Beloved, you be the judge. This aging writer's internet service is certainly not "free."
